Hylias (HYdrogen for Land, Integrated renewables And Sea) is the first hydrogen-electric vessel of this power in France. It will sail between the fifty islands in the Gulf of Morbihan, which are currently served by conventional oil-fired boats in the Natural Park area.
The vessel is less than 24 metres long and will take on board between 150 and 200 passengers. It will also carry a complete system including two 250 kW electric motors and a complete fuel cell system powered by 350-400 kilos of hydrogen.
In river tourism, as in many other tourism sectors, the idea of “travelling differently” is gaining ground. Some say they are followers of sustainable tourism, or responsible tourism. Others simply refer to a concern for the environment. The common point is travelling and enjoying the natural environment in which we evolve (like on canals and rivers) while impacting it as less as possible.
